National Independence Day Parade
25th March is a day of celebration, commemorating Greece’s historic struggle for national independence in the 1800s. There will be a procession led by students of the Greek Orthodox Community Afternoon & Saturday Schools and culminating in a wreath-laying ceremony, poetry readings and traditional dancing. Parade commences 12 noon from Pyrmont Bridge
Giorgios Lianos will perform on both nights, showcasing the newest in Greek music.
Also from Greece, the Mytilinian Municipal Orchestra will perform around 4pm on Saturday evening.
Local talent will also feature on this weekend, and both nights at Darling Harbour will close with a very special DJ set by Krazy Kon that will keep the crowd dancing late into the night.
The Darling Harbour celebration will kick off the two-month-long Greek Festival of Sydney, with over 25 events scheduled on this year’s program.
